Anyone know of flea markets or antiques from all over Europe?
I'm trying to find some good antiques, bric-a-brac market flea in Europe when taking a trip. I've only seen the large standard flea markets listed in London, and Paris, my tour guide. My experience has been that most of the places listed in the guidebooks are mostly overpriced tourist traps. I'm looking at other flea markets that are not listed in tourist guides. I'm looking for flea markets Unlisted who can not afford the money to get listed in a travel guide, and so are totally off the radar screen. Does anyone know of any good flea markets in Austria, Hungary, or indeed anywhere in Europe, the United Kingdom and Ireland? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!
In Vienna, is the Naschmarkt every day (except in one big weekend, especially on Saturday) ring near the opera. Have some furniture. You see more flea markets in the towns during the summer. There was a flea market furniture and good for home when I was in Aix-en-Provence in southern France (I was there on a Saturday, I think) near the town hall. It was a few blocks from where I was staying, but not I remember the particular street. There is supposed to be a good flea market in Annecy, but was never the same. Anywhere in France or French-speaking Switzerland (ie Geneva and Coppet) seeking Brocante shops outside the tourist route and is likely to find better options. On Saturday, Ljubljana in Slovenia has a trail with antiques. It is unusual so it's not as touristy, but there was a lot of nice things 1800s/pre-WW2 and then Communist-era relics (buttons, medals, etc) is by the river in the old town. Highly recommended as probably one of the best I have visited in Europe. In addition Slovenia is a beautiful place to see that not many people know. I really suggest you look in Central and Eastern Europe – Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, for places like London or Paris Offers will not have (nothing really worth has been established through a proper collector or clerk) and not too many tourists. Go places that are a little more authentic, unconventional and yet you're likely to find unusual items.
