I have a small study of performing arts in Waltham, MA. Should be a non-profit? What are the benefits of that?

Many theaters and nonprofit studies, and I know that I would be eligible for a non-profit number. The study makes less than $ 60,000.00 a year. I'm interested in the development of a theater company and a non-profit number would be useful in terms of licensing fees, etc.

Yes, keep this! I've been NFP (now dormant since returned to teaching – but I will withdraw this June, and reliving it) for my chamber music group. In the current economy, I have to say that there is less $ $ for the arts – but one more reason to prove they are legitimate. You shall have a Governing Council, and then you can raise money – which means that it is better to have a counter * *. You can follow the grants. You know you then have a number of tax-exempt, that is a huge savings. I'm sure you researched this, and are only waiting for a nudge to make the change. There are legal groups that will take your case on a pro bono state. You should be able to do this for very little money! I think there is a Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in MA. I did it the hard way – I paid a lawyer – and then had to get the Bar to do to finish this (which took 17 months!)
