Can someone explain how EXACTLY to set up a Super Bowl Squares pool with payouts at every score change?

I get the main idea – score changes, pay someone with the right numbers. But suppose there are lots of score changes. Could I run out of money before the final score???

Theoretically, yes you could run out of money before the game ends.

What you’ll need to do if you want to pay out after every score change (and by the way, don’t count the conversion after a touchdown as a score change) is to make the payouts some absurdly small number, like 1/50th of the total prize pool, so as to “guarantee” yourself that you will have money left at the end to pay out the final score winner.

If you don’t want to go that route, you could pay each winner a fraction of the total prize pool, but keep that fraction the same. This would give the person who has the first score the most money, but would guarantee that there would be money left at the end. For example, you could pay each score change 1/10th of the amount in the pool. So if there were $100 in the pool at the beginning, the first winner would get $10, the next winner would get $9, the next winner would get $8.10, and so on.

This is why people who run square pools only pay out at the end of each quarter.
