The instruments the Tarahumaras use to smooth the pot and scrape away roughness are nothing more than pieces of gourd, stone or wood. They then heat the pot in a shallow hole after it has had time to dry in the open air. It is then painted with various items like a feather, the fingers or a cloth-wrapped stick and natural paints like red ochre, iron oxide or hematite.

What good price guides on antiques that people will not pay those prices?

The term "book price" intimidates potential buyers, the price why are so many guides published? I noticed on Ebay that things like glass, ceramics and other "collectible" usually sell 10 to 50% of actual books.

A good starting point is 50 book value. The truth of the matter is – is only worth what someone will to pay for it. Cannot pay the rent glassware and ceramics.
