decorating plate for grandparents?
I baught white plates (Dinner Plates) i believe they are ceramic and i was wondering if ink from an in pad would stick to it. I want to put my sons hand and foot print on them
WELL i didnt have any ceramic paints, so i ended up using the ink, and then i took the WIDE mailing transparent tape and put it over it and then decorated the rest of the plate like i had planned with the beach theme(grandparents live in florida during the winter) hot glued shells n other stuff needless to say it turned out AMAZING thanks for letting me know that the ink would rub off! cuz now i got it to stay by using the tape and you cant even really tell that it has tape on it
Sounds like your idea worked out great!
Another thought, maybe for next year, or a gift for someone else is to use a clear glass plate (get em at the dollar store). Decorate the back of it with tissue paper or a design that your child draws. Glue it on and then layer the whole thing with ModPodge and let it dry thoroughly. If you want to get really fancy, you can use a gold or silver paint pen to edge the rim of the plate.
The advantage to this method is that you can put things on top of it without injuring the design. You can’t wash it, but you can wipe it off with a damp cloth, so it can be used for like cookies or something. I did it with all my kids for grandparents and when not in use, it looks nice hanging.
