Dinner Plates Info
Eating plates have varied alot over the years. Dishes have been created out of various ingredients. Numerous companies have made the basic dish employed for storing and showing your dining. What a use! Supper dishes started out as a roughly produced chunk of wood hollowed a little. They advanced to being made out of pottery and beat metal. There was copper, gold, and aluminum flatwares. Glass flatwares came along as did porcelain. There is plastic and paper dishes as well.
There has been many shapes of supper flatwares as well. They are initially circular but there has been rectangular dishes as well. There is simply one way to receive a square food, it is on a rectangular flatware. plates also were made in hexagon and octagon forms. You can even see oblong and rectangular dishes.
There are differing patterns in dinner flatwares. Many applied decorations make the plate take on a new type. There is etched and forged decorations in glass. Painted designs on earthen pottery products and applied patterns on newer ceramic items. Many early flatwares made by the right establishment or styled by the right artisan are quite valuable. One establishment, and maybe more had a glossy finish that was poisonous. Most firms had a real complex pattern and others were real plain.
The dinner flatware has come a far way over the years. What would one do without them? It could be a real mess at supper time without a plate to place your cooking on. You never felt something as trivial as a dining plate would mean so much. The world should momentarily stop if the dinner flatware went away. They are used at big celebrations and everyday use.
About the Author
Did Louis Comfort Tiffany produce any ceramic items, like dinner plates that have a transfer printed rooster?
I’ve come across some Dessert Plates that have a crowing rooster[red, yellow, and brown], atop somthing like a weather-vane.
The info on the bottom is vague, although I have been able to make out the number 1881 and Louis C Tiffany. The info was inscribed and than glazed over. Could it be an original? The plate is crazed quite a bit so the age would probably be true as made around 1881.
Sounds like it, though that sounds like an uncharacteristic theme.
