Why and where the choice of hand for different wedding ring?
Here in the UK, we all wear our rings Wedding in the left hand. I have a German friend, however, who uses her wedding ring on his right hand. She says it's normal in Germany where it comes from. I have also a Polish friend who is married and I realize that your wedding ring is also in his right hand. So my two questions are: Why is there a left / right Gap done? What countries and cultures do you see the ring on the left hand and you see it right?
A Greek Orthodox bride takes the ring in left before the ceremony, then moves right after the wedding. In Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, some countries of the former Yugoslavia and in Spain (except in Catalonia) the wedding ring worn on the ring finger of his right hand. In the Netherlands, the Protestant traditionally wear her engagement ring on the ring finger of his left hand and his wedding ring on the ring finger of right hand (a practice that is also very widespread in Germany), while Catholics do the opposite. In the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, the wedding ring on the ring finger of his left hand is traditional between Roman Catholics living in the provinces of West Flanders and East Flanders and parts of Limburg, but not elsewhere. In a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony the groom places the ring on the index finger of the bride, not the ring finger; Today the ring usually moves with the ring finger after the ceremony and most of the couple Jews have taken to wearing a wedding ring. This tradition is that in ancient Israel, at the time of the Talmud, the Jews believed that the index finger was closest the heart, while Christians thought it was the finger. In traditional Indian wedding, the left hand is considered unfavorable. So the wedding ring leads in the right hand. However, despite tradition, some wear the ring on his left hand, matching cultural practice in some countries Western.
