Indian Chief
What was the name of the Indian chief who meet Christopher Columbus?

From: Earth was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus sighted at 2 am on October 12, 1492, by a sailor named Rodrigo de Triana (also known as Juan Rodríguez Bermejo) aboard Pinta (Columbus claim the prize). Columbus called the island (in what is now The Bahamas) San Salvador, although the natives called Guanahani (one of the islands in the Lucaya in the Bahamas). Exactly Which island in the Bahamas, which corresponds to an unresolved issue, since its original log book was lost for centuries, the leading candidates are Samana Cay, Plana Cays, or the island of San Salvador (the name of San Salvador in 1925, in the belief that Columbus was from San Salvador). The indigenous people he encountered, the Lucayan, Taino or Arawak, were peaceful and friendly. In his diary he wrote of them, "I think, that the people are ingenious, and to be good servants and I am of the opinion that could easily be Christians, since they seem to have no religion. "He also wrote about them two days after landing, that could conquer all of them with 50 men, and govern as he wished. "Upon the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492, there were five kingdoms or territories The Tainos in Spanish, each headed by a principal Cacique (chief), who paid tribute. At the time of the Spanish conquest, the largest population centers Taino can hold around 3,000 people or more. The Taíno were historical neighbors and enemies of the Caribbean, another group with origins in South America who lived principally in the Lesser Antilles. From: The www.britannica.com (Columbus) seems to have thought the Spanish might be Zipangu (aka Japan) or, if not Cipango, perhaps one of the islands rich in legend that King Solomon's triennial fleet brought back gold jewelry, and spices to Jerusalem (1 Kings 10:11, 22); alternatively reasoned that the island could be related to the biblical kingdom of Sheba (Saba). There Columbus found at least enough gold and prosperity to save him from ridicule on his return to Spain. With the help of a Taino cacique, or Indian chief, called Guacanagarí, created a fence on the north coast of the island, called La Navidad, and posted 39 men to guard until his return.
