How do you make new wood look old / distressed?

I have a big piece of old wood that I cut into three parts to the shelves of my office. It is 1.5 inches thick and I want the forest to search the difficulties that has been cut with the saw. The wood is not painted, and I do not want to paint, I just do not want to look fresh cut on the edges. Thanks for your help!

Heres some tips on the sand … antiqueing smooth all rough edges, with a tracking tool from burning wood in the wood grain to give it a more deep, lightly sand the finish with sandpaper grain, find a spot you like .. Personally, I like oak or pine gold look, their light and displays the details of grain. after dyeing may want to go over it with a layer of sealant to protect from blimishes or stains .. Good Luck .. remember the sandpaper comes in a variety of grain, grain use light to soften the wood, heavy sand to get dents or blimishes out .. Hope this helps
