what is the rationale of each of these procedures in flower arrangement?
a. prepare all the materials and bring them to the sink.
b. put moderate amount of water into the vase.
c. using the knife cut the stem diagonally.
d. place the flowers one at a time into the vase according to the arrangement you wish.
e. remove the leaves from the stem of the flowers up to the water line.
f. do not place the arranged flowers near the source of heat, direct sunlight or in the current from the electric fan.
g. do after care
a. If you have all your materials ready and at hand, you can proceed without stopping or discovering you don’t have something.
b. If you fill the vase first, the flower stems will displace water, and the vase will overflow. If you fill it last, the stems will be out of water for awhile.
c. A diagonal cut allows more water to enter the stem.
d. You can place each one accurately one at a time. If you jam a bunch in at once, and want to rearrange them, they’ll move others when you pull them out.
e. Foliage under the water will foul it.
f. Arrangements will last longer if kept cool.
g. They’ll also last longer if the water is changed daily, and stems recut as necessary.
