Help with pottery/ceramics questions?
All relating to POTTERY/CERAMICS. For a high school class.
1 Difference between organic and geometric shape.
2 A 2-d element with height and width, such as a silhouette or outline, is called a(n)? How might this be used in ceramics?
3 A 3-d element with height, width and depth is called a(n)?
4 Why contrast is important to a work of art.
5 How would you define slip and greenware?
6 ______ helps to hold the clay particles together. It helps a fired clay piece look smooth and waterproof. (slip?)
1. An organic shape is something that would come from nature. Geometric would be more like a cube, square, cylinder..etc…
2. Not sure
3. Sculpture?
4. Contrast is important becuase it gives the work depth & dimension.
5. Slip is a mixture of clay an d water that acts as a bonding agent when building clay peices.
Greenware is clay that has not been fired.
6. It could be slip…I’m thinking glaze. It is waterproof and makes the clay look smooth.
