How can I make a thermoelectric cooler?

It's for my research project. Is it hard to do? What are the materials I need and where can I get one? How big is going to be? Is it possible to make it smaller? as the size of a pitcher of water?

You need Peltier elements. You can buy as is, but a cheap source of them is good thermoelectric coolers for PC processors. Sometimes it can take up these days on ebay or surplus stores. Remember that these devices are heat pumps, cold on one side and hot on the other. Only work well if you give them a way to dump the heat Residual – a large heatsink or a little water circulation. If not, simply will warm and break. Peltier elements are very small.
