Does it bug you when there is just a little food left in the Serving Bowl at the end of a meal…?
…which you have prepared?
We had soup for lunch today and I always serve my mother and myself first, then leave the largest portion for my husband. Usually I will put his in a soup mug so that he gets more because he is a big eater, but he was getting ready to go to work. Today I did not put it into a mug but left it for him. He pulls out the smallest bowl I have and leaves just enough soup to cover the bottom of the pot, not enough for another serving. I think he does this because he is irritated that I did not serve him too, but he did not say anything. I did that because I wanted to serve my mother, it was getting late, she is 97 and had not really had anything decent to eat yet! He is very passive aggressive. And it really bugs me when a very small amount of food is left like that!
That’s when I’m glad we have Spike…our four legged garbage disposal. He’s always more than willing to clean up that little bit of food that’s left.
It happens at our house when we have company. Nobody wants to take the last little bit. I haven’t figured out if it’s just ’good manners’…that they don’t want to be the one to grab it all and scrape the dish clean…just in case some one else would like a little more…
Maybe that’s what your husband was thinking…that you or your mom might like just a little more. If he’s like my hubby…the thought probably never crossed his mind. He just took what he wanted.
Ah, I know…next time, just divvy it up, put his portion in his mug and he can microwave it when he’s ready to eat….then you won’t have to deal with that ’lttle bit’ leftover.
OR…get a dog. They’re always willing and ready to clean the pot <:O)
