Need information on southern folk artist named B. Smith – similar style to that of Moses, Grandma.?
I think the artist is African American, the paintings are of scenes from a city called "Smithville" – possibly a rural town in Louisiana. He said the artist is highly prized by collectors and that most of her (his?) The paintings are smaller than inquring I respect that are about 24×36. They appear to be oil on canvas. The owner is willing to sell to a collector, but we need more information on its value … any help would be appreciated! Thank you! Ok, I just received a couple of pictures of the paintings in question. Both are very colorful and seem to represent a southern plantation or small town around a plantation. Both prominently feature clouds consisting of three circles. One has a boat down the river as a central point and the other has an old locomotive …. both have red-roofed houses …. Does this help to attribute these paintings?
