Start Your Day with Splenda in Your Coffee

Many people would not think of leaving home in the morning without a cup of coffee.  While the way people take their coffee is as diverse as their personalities, many people like to add a little sugar to sweeten their morning pick me up. Sugar, unfortunately, can be more harmful than helpful during your daily routine.

While most people should avoid sugar for many health reasons, certain people need to avoid sugar all the time in order to continue living their lives. Individuals diagnosed with blood glucose problems can be extremely harmed by sugar products. Not only will they receive a subsequent spike in their blood pressure from the intake, but their increased carbohydrates due to the sugar can also be harmful to their body. Other people who should steer clear of sugar are individuals who are trying to lose weight. Ingesting sugar can increase carbohydrate levels causing an increase in weight. Sugar can also give you a quick burst of energy for a short time followed by an unsettling crash afterwards.

Many people can benefit from using Splenda instead of sugar, including those individuals with blood glucose and weight problems.  When added to your morning coffee, Splenda can work just as efficiently as sugar to sweeten your drink but without increasing your carbohydrate levels.

Splenda offers very important advantages over plain table sugar.  While Splenda may start off as a sugar, the final product has virtually no carbohydrates at all.  A single teaspoon is enough to sweeten a cup of coffee and has less than a single carbohydrate.  What this means is there are no dangers of causing a rapid rise in blood glucose levels, a condition that can also lead to feeling somewhat lightheaded in many people with Type II diabetes.  At the same time, Splenda still provides a wonderful taste of sweetness that compliments the rich full flavor of freshly brewed coffee.  Splenda can enable you to still leave home in the morning feeling satisfied and ready to take on the world.

Most people put more than a teaspoon of sugar in their coffee. In the end, it is calculated that most people use a total of twenty-five calories on sugar just in their morning coffee. If you are one who likes to load up the sugar in your morning coffee, try to instead use Splenda. It enables you to use as much sweetener as you need in the morning while still remaining at zero calories.

Unlike so many other sweetening products, there is no complicated conversion table to consider when you add Splenda to that cup of morning coffee.  Replacing a teaspoon of sugar is simply a matter of pouring in a teaspoon of Splenda.  Nothing could be easier, especially if you have trouble with those early morning commutes.

If you end up liking Splenda in your coffee, there is no reason to stop there.  If you like to sprinkle sugar on your oatmeal or toasted oat cereal at breakfast time, simply grab the Splenda instead.  You will still get the added sweetness you desire, but no worries about the extra calories or an unnecessary increase in your glucose levels.  Instead, you can enjoy the longer lasting energy that your body derives from the food you consume and forego that sudden rush that quickly subsides by the time you arrive at work.

If you happen to be one of those people who grab coffee on the way to work, there is some good news for you as well. These days, many local coffee shops and chains offer Splenda as a sweet and healthy alternative.  If you prefer to have a mocha latte or chai latte every once in a while, Splenda can help sweeten up your drinks no matter how fancy they turn out.  There are now many flavored creamers that are sweetened with Splenda as well, making it possible for you to enjoy a nice hazelnut creamer with your coffee without any worries about extra sugar.  Purists can still grab a packet of Splenda and add the contents to a cup of black coffee too.

Even though Splenda might be a little more expensive than plain granulated sugar, its healthy benefits outweigh the downside of a few extra cents. What you are likely to find is that none of the other sugar alternatives can offer the same satisfaction in terms of sweetness and ease of use as Splenda.  Further, most people who use Splenda report that the product dissolves perfectly in coffee, with no grainy texture remaining.  Best of all, there is no odd aftertaste left behind as with some of the competing brands of sweeteners.

So go ahead and enjoy a touch of sweetness in that morning cup of coffee.  With Splenda, you can do so without creating any glucose issues or using up valuable calories in your daily intake.

Are you supposed to add sugar when you use Coffeemate Creamer?

I recently started adding Coffeemate into my coffee, French Vanilla flavor, and I was wondering if I should still add sugar and milk since the Coffeemate is already kind of sweet? Please let me know, thanks!

Coffemate doesn’t sweeten the coffee. It’s an artificial cream but Splenda and the like are the sweeteners. If you like coffee with cream only, don’t add sweetener.
