11 year old son is very attached to my junk? "

I have a son aged 11. My husband and I recently decided to update and rebuild our home. Nothing major, just paint and new decor. I spent a lot of elegant white plates, white cups, a rotary phone Princess line, slightly floral tea, cups (who are not old, but they look old). Anyway, I was going to have a sale of garbage and my son became very upset. He absolutely did not want to sell me things I mentioned above. He wants me to stop him. I had no idea he was so attached to these things. Anyone have any idea why?

These are things that are familiar. That may seem insignificant elements of course can be replaced, but it looks like more than that. There still might be sentimental to you, but to him they are. If you can find a place to put up, and pass it to him when he has old enough.
