My beta fish has developed a type of growth on their side.?
This growth is up and blue on the outer ring and turns white in the center. Is made more great in the past two weeks, and now I've noticed that the fish lost appetite. I've been changing the water every two weeks 100%. He is in a vase of flowers that has about a gallon of water, not only plants Pebles glass and a piece of coral. I've been using filtered water, but not using any additives or water conditioners. What can you do this "growth" and can be treated? I also take some tips on kepp beta fish. Thanks
8 months is not long for a goldfish to live! Goldfish can live 10 to 20 + years if properly cared for. Without seeing the growth or learn more real can not tell you exactly what it is. Could be a cyst, an inflammation of the gland, bacterial infection (but those are usually red), and really do not believe is a fungus (yeast infections do not tend to swell a lot), etc. I do not think it's a parasite or fungus, however, can benefit from a little aquarium salt in the water. Dissolve a pinch (instructions on the label) of aquarium salt in a cup of water and poor (not put it directly on – salt undisolved burn their gills.) No, but any more than 1 teaspoon per gallon of water – from freshwater bettas, and a high salt content changes in the water can mess with osmotic regulation 2. Try to give the antibiotic Maracyn. You can also try Betta-Fix Remedy, which is a kind of universal remedy Betta can or can not do anything. Unfortunately, this may be a tumor, in which case their is nothing you can do. Keep the water changes. I think it would be best to replace the piece of coral, which is playing with the pH (in coral ago high pH, and bettas are low to mid-pH) and put in a plastic plant to help them feel safer. Besides, 50-70% change 4 or 5 times a week. No a filter, the water is cycled and the ammonia is just building, which certainly does not help anything. Bettas kept in jars is recommended to have the water changes almost daily. A very useful element, dried sweet almond leaf. You can find for sale on e-bay or some fish stores. Put a piece of foil in your jar, you anti-bacterial properties that help, but not a bacterial infection. It will also be slightly brown water stain, which will help your Betta feel safer. Frankly, the best I could do for your bettas Betta or any future is to invest in, cycled tank with a good filter and heater (5gallons would suffice). In addition, when you say 'leaked' the water, what do you mean? You mean like filtered through a BRITA filter? Because it is not to eliminate chlorine or heavy metals and you should use a dechlorinator (In fact, some stress coat or Amquel + probably help him now). If you mean spring / Pure water, then fine. Good Luck with your fish. The updates are welcome!
