Does anyone know the name of this book…it’s fiction?

I don’t remember the exact plot, but I do remember the book largely had to do with an old woman smashing her enormous glass collection: figurines, sculptures, dishware, vases, to make mosaics. And started like, a community project with it or something. Does that ring any bells for anyone?

This sounds simillar to a book I read in Primary school where a woman lost her son and made statues and mosaics of his stuff. Is that the book you are referring to? I’m afraid I cannot remember the name.
